The Milwaukee County Department on Aging (MCDA) has a new transportation provider for eligible Milwaukee County older adults: First Transit, Inc. This service was formerly run by Able Access Transportation, Inc. In 2021, riders will be able to get free rides to the grocery store and voting sites. They will also still be able to get rides to their medical or dental appointment with a $3 co-pay each way. The rides will be safe, friendly, and accessible. Cleaning and screening protocols will be in place to keep riders safe from COVID-19 and only single rides will be scheduled for the duration of the Public Health Emergency. MCDA and First Transit, Inc. will resume rides to Senior Dining sites, the county-owned Senior Centers, and MCDA Wellness Programs when it is safe to do so.
If you or someone that you know needs to schedule a ride for Milwaukee County Department on Aging Transportation Services, please call our provider, First Transit, directly at 414-847-2744; if First Transit operators are busy, the caller should stay on the line – they will hear messages letting them know that they are on hold and to continue waiting.
MCDA’s goal is to provide riders with a reliable, convenient transportation service within Milwaukee County. I have attached a fact sheet with more information about the MCDA Transportation Service. If you or someone that you know needs assistance or has any questions, please call us at 414-289-6874. Staff at our Aging Resource Center will be happy to help you.
